About Green Playces: Northside
Location: Columbia Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Primary Partner: Propel Schools: Northside
Additional Partners: APOST, Girls Scouts of Western PA, Northside Common Ministries
Current Phase: Final Construction Phase:
The first of 5 Green Playces, our Northside site is located on Columbia Place, just off of Brighton Road in the Central Northside, near adjacent neighborhoods California-Kirkbride and Perry South. The site, owned by Propel Schools, will house a stage, a couple of activity stations for environmental learning, a living tunnel, vertical planters, and more!
Construction
We’ve been hard at work building out the North Side site for the past couple of weeks but still have more work to do. Come out and help our first Green Playce come to life!
Design
Our kid-centered design process involved imaginative drawings of pool parties, winter boxes and “ninja gardens.” After this flurry of creativity, we honed in on the most important (but still buildable) concepts to come up with our final design, below. For more information about the design process, check out our blog.
We are coordinating a dedication of the site for the first few weeks of September. If you are interested in access to the site for your group or neighbors who live close by the site please contact Propel Schools:Northside
