Social Capital Council

“The new currency won’t be intellectual capital. It will be social capital-the collective value of whom we know and what we’ll do for each other. When social connections are strong and numerous, there is more trust, reciprocity, information flow, collective action, happiness, and, by the way, greater wealth.”

– James Kouzes

Cultivating Social Capital to Fuel Social Innovation

The GTECH Social Capital Council is a cadre of energetic and socially-conscious professionals who actively support and promote GTECH. It is a way for those who don’t necessarily work in the social sector to connect with community development activities, green economy issues and other sustainability projects. We do this through the staging of fun and meaningful events among our peer networks that connect to this work.

The Offering

Make Pittsburgh an even better place to live through custom partnerships

We work with you to improve the health of communities. We believe connections make our work possible and that partnerships are not one size fits all. We work closely with you to co-design opportunities that grow GTECH’s capacity for impact while advancing your career goals or company’s goals.

We also invite Social Capital Council members to help neighborhoods with some of the toughest challenges that face their communities. As a member, you’ll be invited to sit around a table with other Pittsburgh Movers and Shakers and provide insight to some of Pittsburgh neighborhoods’ toughest challenges – from the role of social enterprise in community development to how we approach community health from a holistic perspective.

Learn, connect and engage with GTECH through fun and meaningful events.

When you attend a GTECH event you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with community development mavericks, social innovators, and Pittsburgh changemakers around topics that intersect with the green economy and community development.  Social Capital Council Members also have the opportunity to get their hands dirty with these community-based projects.

Events include speaking events, tours, workshops, project showcases, on-the-ground workdays and networking opportunities:
