A Comprehensive Report on the Northside’s Vacant Lots

June 2014

In the spring of 2014, GTECH Strategies and Northside volunteers spent several months collecting information on the condition of vacant land in the 19 neighborhoods in Pittsburgh’s Northside using an innovative cloud-based data collection platform called LocalData. The resulting report contains a comprehensive data set on 5,405 vacant lots that helps community members and organizations to better understand the physical use and condition of each site.

The report includes:

• classification of all vacant lots in the Northside
• vacant land profile for the 19 Pittsburgh communities
• recommendations for vacant lot stabalization and areas that should be prioritized for additional vacant lot greening projects
